About Custom PC Tycoon:
This will sound like a strange compliment but the Esports DLC is very game-y. The career mode is like a structured sandbox, you have to complete orders but there’s really no goal beyond reaching the next milestone. While that’s arguably the same with this DLC, it takes those mechanics and applies a different scoring metric. The general cadence is you are tasked with maintaining one or more PCs throughout the week, handling requests and upgrading them as you see fit within a certain budget. Each week is also broken up with small timed show sections, and you can pick up side tasks to make a little extra money, but here’s the thing: at the end of the week your balance resets, all you keep is your reputation and any parts you’ve amassed. Unlike Career mode, where you are graded on a order-by-order basis, all of your “points” are tallied at the end of the week. These points are based on how many goals you completed for each player, the team, and the sponsor. After a “season” for a particular game, you can pick a new team based on your score, and start the process again. Frankly, it’s pretty fun if, like me, you’ve maxed out career mode and new parts aren’t really enough incentive to keep playing. This takes what you already know, and the skills you learned there, and tasks you to apply them a bit differently. You are free to manage your money each week in hitting certain milestones, and you can choose to do as much or as little as you want. Sometimes you’ll get some specific part to install or color scheme to incorporate, but you’ll leave your fingerprints on each build.
